Behind the Lens

My journey in photography really picked up nearly four years ago when I started taking photos of Mount Rainier. From there, I took pictures of the Space Needle in Seattle, Mount St. Helens, and traveled to small towns such as Wilkeson to discover and record their charm. Photography, for me, gives an opportunity to see things, visit places, and meet people you may never have otherwise.

Funny enough, I’m not originally from the Pacific Northwest. I’m actually from Southeast Missouri, where photos I took were mainly of the mighty Mississippi River, typically with a lone barge sailing north or south. Eventually I got married and started a new life, which took me away from my hometown. Though I didn’t have a DSLR for the longest time, I usually had a camera when we went anywhere. My hobby in photography followed me from Missouri to Michigan, to New York, to Arizona, and now here to Washington State. Photography followed us as we vacationed at Disney World in Orlando, Niagara Falls, and a cruise to Alaska. Then, four years ago, I received a DSLR as a Christmas present, and then my passion for photography really took hold. There were so many possibilities and opportunities available for me to capture some of the beauty here. Today, while still chasing landscapes, I also photograph my children and pets often.

Pretty soon, I will be taking the camera across the country to the east coast, as my husband’s new job will require relocation. While I will miss the stunning beauty the Pacific Northwest offers, I also am excitedly looking forward to new subjects and a different kind of beauty in the Washington D.C. area and I am equally excited to share that journey with you!

Today, I still have the strong love for photography that I have always had, but I also have the time, patience, and effort to learn about my camera, about my skill, and about my own creative talent, and I’m very humbled to show my work and my passion for photography to all willing to see. Thank you so much for visiting my website and taking the time to get to know me and see my work. If you have any questions, you are absolutely more than welcome to get in touch!
