I need to make a confession. I have never visited Washington, D.C. Never. I have never lived somewhere where taking a day trip there was a remote possibility. My husband has been before, and we are both big history buffs with an appreciation for our own country’s story. So, now living in Maryland, an hour drive away, I had to jump on the opportunity to take the camera out.
Let me say this, first of all. It was an overwhelming experience from the get go. I mean, before I even arrived in D.C. proper. It became overwhelming the minute I set my eyes upon the Washington Monument as it appeared through my windshield. I was in awe as I looked to my right and spied the Pentagon through the passenger side window. And I was amazed as I took the steps up to the Lincoln Memorial. The entire day was mesmerizing for me. It was such a fantastic experience, and I would absolutely love to go back for more! I walked a five mile circle starting at the U.S. Capitol Building, and I took in as many sights as I could before I had to head home. Here are just a few of my favorites. Do you have any favorite spots to visit in Washington D.C.?
